✨ Team Spotlight: Laura Shepherd
This fall we celebrate the 2-year work anniversary and birthday of our wonderful Client Services Manager, Laura Shepherd. Laura is responsible for overseeing our day-to-day operations and actively corresponding with clients. She is incredibly talented, hard-working, and kind.
What do you love about being part of the Matte & Associates financial solutions team?
I love the enthusiasm and work ethic that drives our entire team. Everyone is so passionate about their jobs and helping our clients and it’s very inspiring. It makes for a very energetic work environment, and I feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by such great people on a daily basis. The learning, growth, and belly-laughs never stop around here. And I can’t forget about Tucker, our office dog; he’s just the best boy!
What was your career prior to Matte & Associates financial solutions?
Prior to Matte & Associates Financial Solutions, I was an Office Manager and Executive Assistant in the residential development industry for 12 years. The company that I worked for successfully built out two master-planned communities, one in Lake Country and one in Black Mountain, which provided new housing for over 300 families across the Okanagan. The challenges that we faced during those times were extreme; our projects started with a recession and ended with a pandemic. Regardless, we were able to see everything through to completion and I was fortunate to transition over to Matte & Associates Financial Solutions shortly after in the role of Client Services Manager.
How was your summer? Anything fun coming up this fall for you?
Summer was wonderful, as we got to catch up with friends and family that we hadn’t seen in a very long time, both here and abroad. My husband and I love to travel, especially throughout Western Canada, and we went on quite a few memorable trips this year: Salt Spring Island, Calgary, Whitehorse, Peachland, Horsefly Lake, Deep Cove / Vancouver, Nakusp, and most recently Oliver. We’re looking forward to a few more visits and weekend getaways this fall before we roll into ski season and then, hopefully, we’ll finish the year by going somewhere warm!
